Welcome to Royal By Design. So what can I say about myself that you might find interesting. I have always liked keeping, studying and just enjoying reptiles. Growing up a military brat we moved around a great deal and as a kid I had the pleasure of keeping and collecting reptiles from all over the country. From frogs in Michigan to snapping turtles in Texas to Horny Toads in Arizona all have been kept, played with and then released by me. But what really started my interest was the time I caught a wild Garter snake in my back yard in Michigan. I set her up in a 20 gal planted tank (dirt and real plants and used to feed her frogs....yea yea I know but give me a break I was 8 at the time). Well a couple weeks after I caught her I came home from school to find not just my big girl but 15 little babies all slithering around the tank. I was so impressed that I started studying how snakes breed and learning everything I could about reptiles. Since that day I have always kept a reptile (a snake here, a lizard there).

Fast forward 20 something years, I am driving home from my boring 9-5er job and decide to stop in the local pet shop to see what they have. Well in a back tank with sand, a heat lamp and a half log is a pathetic looking Ball Python. I felt so sorry for it that I decided to take her home. I set her up in a fish tank, with overhead heating, screen top and coconut bark as a substrate. I played with her everyday and on day 3 dropped in a nice large rat and then started to wonder why she wouldn't eat it. Next week still won't eat and has a terrible shed (now she looks really pathetic). Hmmm...what went wrong. I have always had success keeping reptiles but there never seemed to be any science behind it...I guess I just got lucky. So off to the Internet and I come across this small site called www.ball-pythons.net it is a forum of dedicated breeders, owners and good folks just interested in keeping reptiles (though most interest is towards Ball Pythons). I spend the next several days reading and asking questions...everyone is super friendly and outgoing about helping. I quickly dumped the tank put her in a Rubbermaid tub, with underbelly heat on newspaper. I left her alone for a week and then dropped in a small rat (BAM) she takes it first time, sheds perfect a month later. A few months later as I am admiring how great she looks I decide I need another...and then another and another...boy these guys are addictive. Soon I am buying morphs and reading, studying, going to shows and contributing to the Ball Python community. In the years since getting my first Ball Python I have built a custom rack systems to house them, built incubators to hatch the eggs and started a nice collection of some exceptional color and pattern morphs...a collection that grows every year.

Royal By Design is dedicated to the health and happiness of these wonderful creatures - the Royal Python (aka the Ball Python). All my available animals are bred by me, from exceptional parents acquired from the top breeders in the industry. I am here to help the new or potential owner understand their care and upkeep. My goal is to provide service to you before, during and after your purchase. While the sale of these animals helps fuel my passion and collection it is more important that they go to a good home which will provide proper care, to that end I am here to help you. I am just a small breeder but I offer BIG service and a commitment to you the potential owner to be there before and after the sale.

If you are in the market or just curious to know more drop me a line and I will answer all your questions to the best of my ability and if I don't know...I know a great group of people who do.

Thanks for stopping by and giving Royal By Design a chance to home a new baby with you.
