Python Regius - The Royal Python. The name royal python (from the Latin "regius") is based in part on the story that Cleopatra supposedly wore the snake around her wrist. Also called the ball python referring to the animal's tendency to curl into a ball when stressed or frightened. The smallest of the African pythons they only grow to an average 4-5 feet and have quickly become a favorite in the reptile trade for their docile and easy to care for nature. The color pattern is typically black with light brown-green sides and dorsal blotches - but through selective breeding we have been able to create "designer" animals with countless color and pattern combinations (just check out the Bumblebee Ball Python above). With all these designs, colors and patterns all you have to decide is which one do you want.....Welcome to Royal By Design.
